How Evy’s Tree fosters customer trust through dependable backend technologies
After a family trip to Disney World in 2009, Amy Miraflor posted a picture to her family blog of herself in a handcrafted hoodie. Immediately, requests were coming in to purchase the hoodies she had designed for herself and her family. Amy decided it would be fun to fulfill some of the requests, and when 15 orders were placed in the first 30 minutes, Evy’s Tree was born. Fast forward eight years and Evy’s Tree operates out of two warehouses and a storefront in Santa Rosa, California. From hand-sewing those initial orders to mass producing luxury pieces from high-end fabrics sourced from around the world, Evy’s Tree has grown into a brand well-loved and worn by women around the globe.
Amy hadn’t intended to start a luxury hoodie company, but she soon realized there was a market for her idea and designs. Amy and her husband were operating Evy’s Tree out of their garage when they realized they needed more space, additional people, and integrated technology—fast.
In addition to the growing pains any brand faces, Evy’s Tree’s exclusive design model keeps customers excited, but also adds operational complexity. They release 2-3 new products per week with unique styles and designs. In order for Evy’s Tree to succeed, Amy and her team knew they would need tools in place to stay organized.
Like many brands, Evy’s Tree sought the advice of a peer when determining which solutions would be best suited to their fast growth. Amy’s friends at Grace & Lace recommended Stitch Labs, but they quickly realized they would need a more comprehensive solution when it came to inventory and order management and fulfillment. Evy’s Tree chose, Shopify, Stitch Labs and ShipStation to round out their operational technology stack.
Samantha Donohue, IT Lead at Evy’s Tree, said, “these integrations were a big selling point. We outsource production but manage everything else in-house, so just having Shopify wasn’t going to be enough. These three systems work really, really well together.”
With an strong technology ecosystem in place, Evy’s Tree could focus on creating, marketing, and selling new products. With Stitch’s inventory and order management and analytics, the team is able to make a solid go to market plan with the customer experience in mind.
“Having inventory management helps us focus on revenue opportunities and prevents overselling. Many customers have waited weeks to receive their hoodie so it’s a really important model for maintaining your customers’ trust. We’ve also noticed that when we do preorders, people will come to the site for that item but end up adding something else to their cart. This creates a situation in which we have both available and committed stock, and Stitch helps us keep track of this inventory which is much more accurate than doing physical counts,” Samantha said.
Having systems in place for inventory management and purchase order (PO) management has helped Evy’s Tree create a foundation for growth that gives them increased visibility into and control over the business.

As a forward-thinking team, Evy’s Tree avoided the panic mode many teams face before implementing the systems they need to accommodate their growth.
“We adopted Stitch Labs, Shopify, and ShipStation so early on that we essentially implemented systems instead of people. We could’ve had a full-time person in each role. Now, it’s only one tenth of someone’s job to manage inventory. There’s a huge amount of time and money saved when we look at the technology we have in place.”
Having trustworthy technology in place is especially critical for Evy’s Tree, whose company motto is ‘family first.’ Founder Amy said, “If anyone working for us at any time needs to put their kids or family first, we all will do anything in our power to support them. They can leave work at any time, drop everything they are doing, and stop a meeting at a moment’s notice. Not only do I get to be flexible, but I allow a dozen other moms who work for me to do the same.” The software solutions Evy’s Tree uses help them make this a reality while still operating a successful, multimillion dollar company.
Evy’s Tree has grown largely organically because the team and the brand’s loyal customers believe in their mission and their products. Samantha explained, “our repeat customer rate is unusually high; partly because of the value we place on the customer experience. When you have the right tools in place and can avoid things like overselling, people know we’re dependable and they can count on us.”
