Consumers Want Online Orders Delivered Quickly and for Free

“Consumers want their online orders delivered quickly, and they don’t want to pay for it,” according to a new Internet Retailer Tech Focus Report.

This trend was started by Amazon.com, Inc. with its paid Prime Program, which includes unlimited two-day free shipping. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and Target Corp launched similar programs recently as well.

“Those moves are leading consumers to expect they won’t have to pay to have their online orders delivered quickly. After all, when consumers evaluate shipping options, 47.4% want and expect fast and free shipping, according to a recent survey conducted by Internet Retailer and Bizrate Insights of 2,815 U.S. consumers.”
