Are any of you planning on being in Austin for SXSW Interactive? If so, I’d love to meet you!
First, if you don’t know what SXSW is, it’s a huge conference that descends on Austin, Texas every March, with three different arms: Interactive, Film, and Music. Being a huge music fan, I went to my first SXSW in 2004 for Music, and it was probably one of the best trips of my life. Being the huge geek I am, in 2006 I attended SXSW Interactive for the first time (which happens in the 5 days prior to music), and vowed from that year on I’d never miss another one. And I haven’t… this year marks my 8th year(!). I’ve met so many incredible new friends and connections at this conference, and every year seems to outdo the last.
It’s in that spirit that I’m super excited to report:
Stitch Labs will be a part of THREE big events happening
at SXSW Interactive this year!
Saturday Night Showcase
One that’s very cool for us, as a new company, is that we’ve been selected as one of 33 startups to be showcased at this year’s Tech Cocktail SXSW #Startuplife Celebration - what an honor!
What this means is we get to participate in their Startup Competition (wish me luck!), and all night we’ll have a showcase table at their huge SXSW party, where I’ll be meeting fellow startup founders, investors, and a TON of super smart, incredibly well-networked, tech savvy people from all over the globe! It’s going to be quite the night.
I wish you could be there, but even if you won’t be in Austin, you can still support us at this event. Simply take a minute to click here and vote for us for the People’s Choice award!
Sunday & Monday: CraftMakerCamp at SXSW
Then, on Sunday & Monday, I’m putting on the first ever CraftMakerCamp at SXSW!
I had the honor of organizing the official SXSW Craft/Maker Meetup last year, and this year jumped at the chance to do a bigger, full 2-day camp.
is getting finalized now is now posted! I’m delighted to report we’ll have folks from Etsy, Outright, Spoonflower, Hello Craft, HOW Design‘s Grace Dobush (author of Crafty Superstar), IndieGoGo, Stitch Labs and more throughout the duration of this 2-day event. Topics so far include everything from “How to Design and Print Your Own Fabric” presented by the founder of Spoonflower, to “The Psychology & Philosophy of Premium Pricing” led by rockstar Tara Gentile and furniture designer, Adam King. Awesome, right?
I’ll be leading a talk called “Making the Not-So-Fun Stuff Easier So You Can Save Time and Sell More.” Any guesses on what that’s about? Yes, this event is *perfect* for getting the word out about Stitch to all the crafters, makers, movers & shakers at SXSW. So wish you all could be there!
Break out the cowboy boots…
Last, but not least (because it’s actually happening first), is that I’m planning on attending the Texas Style Council conference that’s happening Friday-Sunday (well as much as I can of course, on Friday night & Saturday morning).
This event is like the AltSummit of fashion, and I’m really looking forward to it! There I’ll have the opportunity to meet fabulous fashionistas, fashion bloggers, and those interested in the Fashion+Tech space; sharing all about how Stitch is helping independent fashion designers with the business side of things!
Again, please let me know if you just happen to be in Austin around this time, as I’d love to meet up and say hello! Oh, and if you do happen to now of folks going to SXSW or TxSC, please send them this post, or share the CraftMakerCamp Facebook Event with them.
Thanks for helping us spread the good word about Stitch!
