Manage Inventory Faster - Feature Update

speed tunnel whooshWe're all about efficiency here in The Lab. We just released a brand new feature that will make Stitchers more efficient as well. Stitchers can now download a CSV file of all their products, adjust their inventory quantities and re-upload them into Stitch to help them manage inventory even faster.

Exporting and editing:

The exported CSV file can be opened in MS Excel, Numbers, or Google Spreadsheets. This process is super simple. The only column you will want to edit is the 4th column (column D), labeled "stock." The 5th column (column E) will update dynamically based on the what the "available" stock will be. Be sure you understand what these definitions mean by visiting our support center about this topic.

When all edits are complete, save the spreadsheet as a CSV file. If there are format options, be sure to choose UTF-8.

*IMPORTANT NOTES*

  • IF YOU EDIT ANY OTHER COLUMNS ON THE CSV, STITCH WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THOSE CHANGES
  • IF YOU DELETE OR ADD A COLUMN, THE FILE WILL ERROR UPON UPLOAD
  • ROWS CAN BE DELETED OR RE-ORDERED AND THERE WILL BE NO AFFECT

Only Edit Stock Column

Importing:

Select the CSV file you edited. If there are not exactly five columns in the file, you will receive an error. During the upload, only the products where the stock has been edited will change. No other edits will be recognized. Once the changes have completed successfully you will see a success message and the popup will close.

*MORE IMPORTANT NOTES*

Because this feature is all about speed, it falls outside the lines of our normal "add stock" process. What this means is that it is disconnected from Stitch's average costing calculation. Any edits done through this process may have an impact on your "average unit cost" calculation within Stitch. Depending on how you use Stitch, this may or may not matter to you. Many Stitch users are mainly focused on managing inventory quantities within Stitch vs using it for accurate profit numbers. If you are using Stitch to calculate accurate profit numbers, we recommend adding stock via the inventory area > product family > add stock tab.

That's it! Here's to giving great features this holiday season. Please leave us a comment to let us know what you think. This is another major feature update that will really help Stitchers manage inventory more effectively.

Stitch on!
